Oh, we forgot to mention the safari, hotels, fine food, scenery that you can only dream about, such as Mt. Day One: Arrive in Nairobi
Nairobi – Saturday July 6th
You arrive Nairobi, met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi for accommodation and overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

 

Day Two: Nairobi / Taita / Salt Lick
Nairobi – Taita/Salt Lick – Sunday July 7th
Depart Nairobi early in the morning and drive past the savannah grasslands and bushlands on the main highway and on to Taita Hills to arrive in time for lunch. After lunch relax then later you can depart on an afternoon game drive inside the private Sanctuary before returning back to lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

Day Three: Taita / Salt Lick
Taita / Salt Lick – Monday July 8th
Full day is spent at the Salt Lick Sanctuary with morning and afternoon game drives. Accommodation is on full board basis at lodge. (guests also have an option for a day trip to visit Tsavo National Park which is not far)

 

Day Four: Taita / Arusha
Taita  / Arusha – Tuesday July 9th
After breakfast, you depart and drive to the Taveta border where you will cross into Tanzania and meet our Tanzania representative who will now do the Tanzania part of the safari and drive you to Arusha where you will stop over for overnight.
Day Five: Arusha / Lake Manyara
Arusha / Lake Manyara – Wednesday, July 10th
After breakfast, you depart Arusha and drive westwards to Kirurumu where you will arrive in time for lunch. Later on in the afternoon, you depart on a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park before returning back to lodge for accommodation and overnight.
Day Six: Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara / Ngorongoro Crater – Thursday, July 11th
You depart after breakfast and continue the journey passing through a small town known as Mto wa Mbu and Karatu, with scenic views and on to the Ngorongoro highlands to arrive for lunch, the afternoon at leisure, dinner, and overnight at lodge.
Day Seven: Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater Friday, July 12th
A full day is spent at Ngorongoro Crater departing lodge for a whole day’s game drive inside the crater in search of game perhaps not yet seen and also the spectacular sceneries. Dinner and overnight is back at your lodge by the crater rim. Watch the Video
Day Eight: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Nairobi
Ngorongoro Crater / Arusha / Nairobi – Saturday, July 13th
After breakfast, you depart and drive back to Arusha where you will stop for lunch, and then continue on to Namanga border, where again you will cross back into Kenya and meet your driver who will continue with the journey back to Nairobi. You will arrive in the evening to prepare for your flight back home (or at your hotel in Nairobi if you’d like to stay overnight). Safari ends.
In Nairobi, we’ll stay at the Intercontinental Nairobi Hotel. The stay at this hotel is included in the tour pricing.

Miriam Kamau transformed from a Kenyan girl working in a gem dealer’s office, to a gem dealer and miner, to representing her country on the international stage of the colored gemstone trade.

Born in Nairobi, Miriam devoted her love to her country. Her entry to the gem trade started when she worked for an American gem dealer as an office girl greeting the clients and taking care of some errands. She started to pay more attention to the activities in the trading office, asking more questions. Luckily, her boss generously shared his knowledge.

Miriam realized that she needed to go back to school for a formal education on gems, so she enrolled in courses in Nairobi and Johannesburg on diamond and colored gemstone identification.

When Miriam returned to Kenya, she started her own company in gem business in Nairobi. An opportunity came to her to represent Kenyan women dealers to export stones to Thailand as a representative of the Kenya Chamber of Mines.Her business has expanded, and she now owns a tsavorite mine in Kenya with an operation tunnel of about 90 feet deep.

Miriam is a member of the ICA and served as ICA Ambassador to Kenya. She is also a member of the Women’s Jewelry Association. She is also a key member of the Kenya Women Mining Association, an organization dedicated to empowering women involved in mining. She is one of the organizers of the Kenya Gem; Jewellery Trade Fair

The visit to Arusha is a must. If we do not have the time to walk around to visit shops and ICA gem dealers prior to visiting Ngorongoro Crater, we will do so on the way back through Arusha on the way to Nairobi.
We understand the expense and time factor to undergo a trip of this magnitude. So, we decided to add value and help mitigate the expense for participants. Obviously, you will be able to document your experience, videos; pictures; and we will do the same for you in usage. Please use these videos and pics in your social media platforms.
Kenyan Immigration has instituted a strict visa policy whereby all visitors are strongly encouraged to obtain visas by using an online system, though visas are available upon arrival at international ports of entry including Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
• A passport with at least two blank pages, six months’ validity, and a visa are required to enter Kenya.
• Single-entry visas are available upon arrival at Kenyan airports; however, Kenyan Immigration plans to end visas upon arrival in the near future.
• Multiple-entry visas must be applied for prior to traveling to Kenya.
• Obtain the latest information on visas, as well as any additional details regarding entry requirements, from the Embassy of Kenya, 2249 R Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008, telephone (202) 387-6101, or the Kenyan Consulates General in Los Angeles and New York City.
• You should have proof of yellow fever immunizations, or you may be denied entry.

Requirements for all Visa Types

  1. A completed visa application form, signed by applicant.
  2. The actual passport valid for at least 6 months.
  3. Two passport sized photographs recently taken.
  4. A prepaid self-addressed envelope to facilitate return of passport by the most secure mail
    • Be sure you are able to track it.
    • FedEx and UPS are accepted.
  5. N.B: The Embassy shall NOT be responsible for any loss or damage which occurred due to poor packaging, or that which occurred at courier handling facility.
  6. Provide flight itinerary, ticket or tour operator package receipt.
  7. People traveling for specific reasons other than tourism must submit a letter from their organization or office. These include but not limited to volunteers, people attending meetings & conferences, studies, diplomatic, official and any other business not mentioned here.
  8. Parental Approval for minors:
    Visa applications for minors under 18 years traveling alone or with only one parent/legal guardians should be accompanied by:
    • A notarized letter, jointly signed by parents or legal guardians approving the minor to travel.
    • A copy of their ID
